Protist

Kingdom Protista was proposed to include eukaryotic organisms which are single cell or a colony of similar cells and which form no tissues. The kingdom was divided into protozoans, algae, and slime molds. Protists are polyphyletic because they did not descend from a common ancestor. Now Protista is an informal group of organisms that are not animals, plants, or fungi.
