domain	Eukaryota	Pediastrum is a genus of freshwater green algae. It is photoautotrophic with a fixed number of cells. Reproduction is sexual by the fusion of gametes, or asexual by producing autocolonies. Each cell in the parent colony produces a zoospore, which are freed to arrange themselves within a vesicle.
