Chlorophyta

Chlorophyta is a division of green algae, informally called chlorophytes. It is the sister group of charophytes. Together they belong to supergroup Archaeplastida, which also includes land plants. Chlorophyta contains both unicellular and multicellular species. All members have motile flagellated swimming cells. Most species live in freshwater, with a large number in marine habitats.
