Animal Passeriformes incertae sedis The text of the paper insert for this figure reads:

"Scientific Name: Passeriformes Pronounced: pas-er-ee-form-ees
Type of Animal: Bird Period: Eocene (56-35 million years ago)

The Murgon Songbird was a small bird about the size of a modern finch. Although very little is known about this bird, it is by far the earliest songbird ever discovered. In fact this bird lived about 25 million years earlier than the oldert known songbird in the Northern Hemisphere, making it likely that songbirds originated in the Southern Hemisphere."

The remains on which this figure is based consist of a single isolated limb bone. The remains are sufficient to establish that the animal is a passerine bird, but little else can be said about it, and the material does not justify the creation of a formal name.
