Vinegaroons

From Toy Animal Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search
Thelyphonida, or Uropygi, is an arachnid order comprised of whip scorpions or vinegaroons. They resemble true scorpions with a whip-like tail. Whip scorpions range in length from 25 to 85 mm (1.0 to 3.3 in). They do not have venom glands. Instead, glands near the rear can spray an acetic acid solution. The smell of vinegar is the origin of its common name, vinegaroon. They are nocturnal hunters feeding on other arthropods and worms and slugs.
