phylum | Chordata | Szechuanosaurus ("Szechuan lizard") is a dubious genus of theropod dinosaur from the Late Jurassic. This dinosaur lived in the Asia in the Oxfordian and early Kimmeridgian (Peng et al., 2005). It is based on four undiagnostic teeth from the Shangshaximiao Formation. A more complete specimen, given the name Szechuanosaurus zigongensis by Gao Yuhui in 1993 represents an older species, from the Middle Jurassic. It was reclassified as a species of Yangchuanosaurus, as Yangchuanosaurus zigongensis, by Matthew Carrano, Roger Benson & Scott Sampson in 2012.
