phylum | Chordata | The Steller's Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri) is a passerine bird in the family Corvidae, native to North America. It is native to western North America and the mountains of Central America. It is primarily found in pine-oak and coniferous forests and can be found in moderate elevations, sometimes as high as the treeline. It is predominately blue with a dark grey to black head and crown and white markings on the face. Sexes are similar in size and plumage, and plumage does not vary throughout the year. It is similar to and very closely related to the Blue Jay of the east.
