A pseudoscorpion, also called a false scorpion or book scorpion, belongs to the arachnid order Pseudoscorpiones. They look like tiny scorpions, but do not have a stinger tail. Average length is from 2 to 8 mm (0.08 to 0.31 inches). The pair of very long pedipalps have pinchers that resemble the pinchers of a scorpion. They prey on booklice, ants, mites, and the larvae of the clothes moth and carpet beetle. They range worldwide with 3,300 species.
