Marx Horses
A broad range of horses were produced by Louis Marx and Company over the years. There is a broad range of sizes and types. Some have molded saddles, other have separate tack.
Farm Horses
All the various farm playsets Marx made included a horse or two.

Western Horses
These are horses from Western playsets. Those without saddles will be noted. For the related cattle see the Cattle section of the Farm and Cattle page. Many were also used in other similar themed playsets like Revolutionary, Civil War, and Ben Hur.
40mm Rodeo Horses
These are from a rare early set. Most of the horses have little platforms at their feet. Originals are in rubbery vinyl, recent reissues in soft plastic. They were made in Marx mold PL-360

54mm Horses
These were made only in soft plastic. Reproductions exist of nearly all 54mm horses.

These are intended for the Indian figures, from Marx mold PL-692

Designed to be used with various wagons, from Marx mold PL-532.
Known as the Ben Hur horses these two unsaddled ones were also released in Western sets. From mold PL-865 and also in a revised mold PL-610b
From mold PL-779, this horse was used in the various Fort sets
From mold PL-850, intended to represent a horse lying so the figure can shoot over them
From mold PL-1099, formerly rare until recast, most seen will be reissues
From mold PL-153, the falling horse was made as a set with a rider and only in the largest Civil War playsets
60mm Horses
These are the more common early playset horses. They were first in rubbery vinyl with later production ones in soft plastic. Recasts of many exist
Known as Chubby Horses these were from the early ranch sets, mold PL-128

4 Inch Horses
Made for use with a series of 5 inch tall figures
6 Inch Horses
Made for use with the 6 inch figures, these are about 5 inches tall and were for use with a wagon only.
8 Inch Horse
Similar to Hartland horses and intended to compete with them, these are made of hard plastic two part construction. There is only one pose but they had at least 6 different accessory and figure sets that went with them.
Best of the West Horses
These are in a 1/6 scale for use with the related figures. All tack are separate parts.
