phylum | Chordata | Confuciusornis is a genus of primitive crow-sized bird from the Early Cretaceous Period of China, dating from 125 to 120 million years ago. It is the oldest known bird to have a beak. Confuciusornis was about the size of a modern pigeon, with a total length of 50 centimetres.
