It is very adaptable and is able to survive on a wide range of food sources, making it capable of colonizing new areas, due to which it is often considered a nuisance, especially in agricultural areas. It is extremely intelligent, with the same brain-to-body weight ratio as humans. There are 5 recognized subspecies over the large range of the species.
