ZZ Riesen Gazelle
|
The Gazelle The home of gazelles, or Thomson's gazelles as the animal depicted on the other side is commonly called, is East Africa. Especially on the southern edges of the East African Maasai steppes. Gazelles are among the fastest and most agile animals. When in danger, they flee in large groups across the wide plain. Their enemy is man, who hunts these beautiful animals for their fur. But lions, leopards, and hyenas are also always lurking for prey. Their only protection is their speed, their caution, and their strong social bonds. Gazelles reach very high speeds and make their escape with long leaps. The horns of both sexes are strongly curved, but the males in particular have especially large and long horns. Gazelles are not very large, but they are conspicuously long-legged.
