Animal Giralia Pterosaur The text of the paper insert for this figure reads:

"Scientific Name: Pterosaur Pronounced: tair-row-saw
Type of Animal: Reptile Period: Cretaceous (146-65 million years ago)

The Giralia Pterosaur was a flying reptile with a wingspan of more than four metres. Like today's vultures, it probably soared high in the sky, swooping down to scavenge the bodies of dead animals. The Giralia Pterosaur belonged to a family of reptiles which included the largest flying animals that ever lived; one of its relatives had an incredible wingspan of 12 metres!"

Though this figure has been posited to refer to the ornithocheiroid genus Mythunga, Mythunga is from the Early Cretaceous and the Giralia formation is 30 million years younger (Maastrichtian). By the Maastrichtian, azhdarchids may have been the only pterosaurs left on earth. Furthermore, the morphology of the isolated limb bones that this figure is based on are consistent with a small azhdarchid, similar to but smaller than Hatzegopteryx, Quetzalcoatlus, or Zhejiangopterus. The Giralia pterosaur remains have never been given a formal name, due to their fragmentary nature.
