phylum | Cnidaria | Cassiopea ornata is one of 8 species of upside-down jellyfish found in intertidal sand or mud flats and shallow lagoons. The medusa usually lives upside-down on the bottom. They have a mild sting since they are primarily photosynthetic, hosting zooxanthellae, photosynthetic dinoflagellate algae. The diameter is from 5 to 15 cm.
