Tyco Toys was a North American toys manufacturer founded in 1926 by John Tyler and family. It was formerly called Mantua Metal Products, model trains die-cast was their main business. In 1960 it changed to Tyco and in 1997 it was purchased by Mattel. Tyco turned into a division of Mattel until early 2010's.

Dino-Riders, a popular line of armored prehistoric animals with small action figures, was released from 1988-1990. In 1992, after the end of the Dino-Riders line, Tyco re-released the same molds (slightly modified in some cases to remove motorized features) as the "Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History Dinosaur and Other Prehistoric Reptile Collection" and the "Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History Ice Age Mammal Collection". This line was cancelled in 1994 after the two series - three models (Edmontonia, Saurolophus and Chasmosaurus) were advertised in catalogs as coming in the third series, but seem not to have been released.

Several of the same figures were released yet again in 1994 as part of the Cadillacs and Dinosaurs toy line.
