The Tsuchinoko is a snake-like being in Japanese folklore. The length is 30 to 80 cm, with a central girth much wider than the head or tail, and with fangs and venom similar to a viper. Some tsuchinoko have the ability to speak, with a propensity for lying, and a taste for alcohol. It can swallow its own tail and roll like a wheel, like the American hoop snake.
