phylum | Chordata | Titanis is a large extinct flightless carnivorous bird of the family Phorusrhacidae, endemic to North America during the Pliocene living 4.9—1.8 Ma, and died out during the earliest Pleistocene, existing approximately 3.1 million years. It was 2.5 metres (8 ft 2 in) tall and weighed approximately 150 kilograms (330 lb).
