phylum | Cnidaria | Symphyllia radians, called grooved brain coral, is a species in the family Lobophyllidae, large polyp stony corals. Originally in the brain coral family Mussidae, molecular data needs morphological investigation. Colonies average 15 to 20 cm, flat hemispheres with wide valleys. Found on tropical reefs in Indo-Pacific waters, colors are blue, brown, and green.
