| Solifuges are arachnids of the order Solifugae, known as camel spiders, wind scorpions, and sun spiders. There are more than 1,000 species in 153 genera. The body has 2 sections, the prosoma (head-thorax) and opisthosma (abdomen), and there is no tail as there is with the stinger of a scorpion.. The 2 large chelicerae are not poisonous, each with upper and lower segments that form a pinchers. Most species live in dry climates and feed on arthropods and other small prey. The largest species grow to a length of 12 - 15 cm (5 - 6 in).
