The underside is gray with a single row of round spots of differing sizes. Its wingspan is typically between 18 to 28 mm. It is found in various habitats across the western United States and most of Canada, including alpine meadows, wooded areas, and dunes. It is known to feed on plants in the genus *Lupinus* and other legumes.
