phylum | Arthropoda | Shortnose mantis shrimp is found in marine waters of the Indo-West and Central Pacific, including Hawaii and the Philippines, as well as the eastern Pacific Ocean, along the coasts of southwestern North America and Central America. Shortnose mantis shrimp have elongate, flattened, lobster-like bodies, with three pairs of walking legs, a very short carapace, and a long, flattened tail.
