phylum Arthropoda Shortnose mantis shrimp is found in marine waters of the Indo-West and Central Pacific, including Hawaii and the Philippines, as well as the eastern Pacific Ocean, along the coasts of southwestern North Amer­ica and Central America. Shortnose mantis shrimp have elongate, flattened, lobster-like bodies, with three pairs of walking legs, a very short carapace, and a long, flattened tail.
