This page lists known Special Edition animals produced by Schleich. For many years there were just a few, but in the last few years the company has begum including special editions as part of boxed sets or for specific retailers or occations.

75th Anniversary
For Schleich's 75th anniversary in 2010 they produced a small series of animals painted with zebra stripes.

Meyers Book Series
In 2012 Schleich provided animals for a cooperative children's book series called Mein Tierspielbuch produced with the publishing company Meyer. Each contains a small animal along with a picture book telling a story with the animal in it. There are six books in the series with 3 of them having unique paint on the animals - the Falabella horse, Lamb, and Black Panther Kitten. All of the animals have a leg tag with their special edition number on it.

Available through the German Schleich.com site
In 2017, Schleich began selling Specials though their own German net shop. These models had previoiusly only been available from sets, or in certain markets. In January 2018, 5 Special horses ( standard, whit other paintwork) were sold, but only for the German market. In 2023 the models were also sold through retiler shops in Germany.

McDonald's Exclusives
In September 2019, McDonald's in Germany offered 8 exclusive horses and dinosaurs from Schleich as a part of their Happy Meals. These figures are made of a different, more rubbery, material than normal Schleich and are smaller than the normal Schleich molds. In December 2020 through January 2021, 12 new farm animals and dinosaurs were released. 10 of these figures were officially announced and came in boxes, while the other 2 were not on promotional material and came sealed in plastic.
