The Scarab Beetle family (Scarabaeidae) is a very large and diverse group within the order Coleoptera, with over 30,000 species worldwide. They are characterized by their unique, clubbed antennae composed of plates called lamellae that can be tightly closed or fanned out. This family includes many well-known and economically important insects.
