The scale-model Monterey Bay Aquarium® collection was designed in collaboration with scientists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. The sea creatures are all professionally sculpted and hand painted for accurate detail. Upon their original releases, all figures were advertised at the 1:40 or 1:20 scale.
The early models had a glossy surface, more recent ones have a matte surface.
The series was discontinued in 2023, at which time all remaining models were retired.
