phylum | Chordata | The roughskin sculpin is native to the coastlines of China, Japan, and Korea, where it occurs at the mouths of rivers. This species is about 20 centimetres (7.9 in) long and weighs up to 350 grams. It has a large head with a large mouth and small eyes. It lacks scales but its body surface is textured with "knobbles". The gill opening is large and each gill has two orange stripes.
