phylum | Chordata | The Riversleigh Striped Possum was a close relative of the Striped Possum found in the rainforests of north Queensland and New Guinea. Like its modern relative it would have been extremely agile, leaping from branch to branch through the rainforest canopy. It probably fed on wood-boring grubs which it extracted from the trunks and branches of the rainforest trees.
