| Pupa is the life stage of some insects undergoing transformation (metamorphosis) between the last larval instar and the adult stage. The pupal stage is found only in holometabolous insects, those that undergo a complete four-stage metamorphosis. This page lists butterfly pupae (chrysalides) only. Those with a identified species can also be found in their respective species page.
