| phylum | Chordata | Pelagornis miocaenus, the giant bony-toothed bird, is a large species of bird, closely related with pelicans. This species is known from Aquitanian Early Miocene sediments. The original specimen on which P. miocaenus was found was a left humerus almost the size of a human arm.
