phylum | Chordata | Moanasaurus is an extinct genus of mosasaur, a large, predatory marine lizard of the late Mesozoic. Fossils have been found in Late Cretaceous deposits of New Zealand. "Rikisaurus" is a junior synonym. Moanasaurus had a head up to 78 cm long, and had an overall length of 12 meters.
