Hausser Elastolin's 54 mm animal figures (sometimes also referred to as 56 mm) were made of soft plastic (Weichplastik), except for some of the smaller animals, for which they used a harder plastic. Elastolin first started using soft plastic in 1967 and this is probably when the first animal figures in the 54 mm series were produced. They probably probably lasted until 1983 when Hausser Elastolin went bust.
