phylum Mollusca Halgerda tessellata is a species of sea slug, a dorid nudibranch, a shell-less marine gastropod mollusc in the family Discodorididae. This species has a wide range, occurring from the western shores of the Indian Ocean (Kenya, Tanzania, and Madagascar) to the Pacific Ocean (SE Australia and the Mariana Islands), having originally been described from Palau. The animal's body is typically translucent white with a network of distinct orange or yellow lines forming a pattern of ridges over the mantle. These ridges are often interrupted by black spots or markings where the lines intersect, giving the species its unique tessellated appearance.
