The company starts in 1910 when the founder, Francesco Antonini, imports aluminium moulds from Gebrüder Schneider , a German manufacturer from Leipsig. Soldiers, Western, Nativity sets, trees, animals, etc. can be found among their range. Encouraged by the success, Antonini starts making their own production for bronze sculptures with the brand name LGP (Laboratorio giocattoli in piombo"), being toys made of lead. In 1927, new safety exigences for unbreakable and non toxic toys, made Antonini to change the material to composition. These figures are larger than previous and among many other collections, there's a series of Zoo animal figures. At that time, brand name changes to F.I.G.I.R. (Fabbrica Italiana Giocattoli Infrangibili Roma), directly translates to Italian Factory of Unbreakable Toys of Rome. In 1968 the mass production of composition figures is discontinued due to the introduction of plastic in the toy industry. Luciano Antonini, keeps the business after the death of his father, changing the design to a more realistic and in 54 mm scale.
