phylum | Arthropoda | Cubaris murina (syn. C. iriomotensis) is a widespread species in Armadillidae, a family of terrestrial woodlice. Like members of family Armadillidiidae, which includes the common pill-bug, armadillids are also known as pill bugs because of their ability to roll up in a sphere. The exoskeleton is rigid and segmented, with 14 jointed limbs. Mostly they feed on dead plant material, and are usually active at night. They are found in damp places, such as under rocks and logs, because they lose water by excretion and through their cuticle.
