phylum | Mollusca | The brown slug may have been inspired by the cellar slug, Limax (syn. Limacus) flavus, a species of land slugs in the family Limacidae. This slug has a yellow body with grey mottling, and pale blue tentacles. Body length is 7.7 to 10 cm (3.0 to 3.9 in). Distribution is the British Isles and most of southern and western Europe. It is found in cellars, kitchens, and gardens; common but nocturnal.
