Emys) blandingii, is a semi-aquatic native to the marshes of the Great Lakes region, with isolated populations in the eastern United States and Canada. The carapace is black, average length of 18 to 23 cm (7.1 to 9.1 in). The chin and throat are bright yellow. The plastron is yellow with black blotches, hinged at the anterior third. The diet is omnivorous, favoring crustaceans. Late sexual maturity and habitat loss necessitate protected status.
