The Reduviidae family, commonly known as Assassin Bugs, is a large, cosmopolitan family of predatory insects in the Heteroptera suborder of the order Hemiptera (true bugs). The name comes from the genus *Reduvius* (from the Latin *reduvia*, meaning "hangnail" or "remnant"). With about 7,000 species, Reduviidae is one of the largest families in the Hemiptera. It includes well-known groups such as Ambush Bugs (Phymatinae), Wheel Bugs (*Arilus* spp.), and Kissing Bugs (Triatominae).
